Flexibility is lacking for most corporate roles

Programmed is a pretty stable company, but if you're looking for real work flexibility, especially in corporate roles like a Program Manager in Sydney, NSW, it's not their strong suit.

Pros

Job security is decent, which is great in the staffing solutions industry. There's always work, and the pay is okay. It's a big corporate structure, so things are consistent.

Cons

The work flexibility here isn't great. As a Program Manager, I found it mostly an onsite role, making true hybrid work pretty rare. Getting approval for remote days was always a struggle, even for non-client facing tasks.

Advice to Management

Management should seriously look at more flexible work options, especially hybrid models. It would really boost morale and help attract talent for roles like Program Manager.

Decent role in facilities services, but management communication could be sharper.
Pros: The job security at Programmed is solid, which is a big plus, especially in the current economic climate. I appreciate the team camaraderie; my colleagues are generally helpful and friendly. There are opportunities to learn the ropes of facilities management and expand your skillset within the scope of your role. The work itself can be quite varied.
Cons: While work-life balance is generally respected, sometimes urgent operational issues can creep into personal time, though this is infrequent. Communication from upper management regarding strategic changes or new initiatives could be more consistent and clearer. It sometimes feels like information doesn't trickle down effectively, leading to minor confusion on the ground.
Advice to Management: Consider implementing more structured communication channels to ensure all teams are consistently informed about company updates and strategic directions. This will help align everyone and reduce day-to-day uncertainties.

Stable operations role with team camaraderie
Pros: The best part was definitely the team I worked with in Carlton. We had a really collaborative spirit and helped each other out, making the daily tasks more enjoyable. For a large services company, the job security felt pretty solid, and I appreciated the consistent work. The company provides essential services, which gives a sense of purpose.
Cons: While the team was great, communication from higher up could sometimes be a bit disjointed, leading to confusion on larger projects. Training for new systems or procedures wasn't always comprehensive, so a lot of learning was on the job, which can be challenging. The pay, while adequate, didn't offer much room for negotiation.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining communication channels between different departments and levels. More proactive training on new systems would benefit employees and improve efficiency.

Steady Facilities Role with Occasional Communication Gaps
Pros: Programmed offers a stable work environment, which is great for job security in the facilities management industry. My colleagues were fantastic, creating a supportive team culture. I appreciated the consistent workload and the opportunity to be involved in diverse projects across different sites in Western Australia. The pay and benefits were competitive for the role.
Cons: While work-life balance was generally good, some projects could lead to longer hours unexpectedly. Internal communication between different branches or departments occasionally felt disjointed, leading to minor delays or confusion on tasks. More streamlined communication channels could really improve efficiency for field staff.
Advice to Management: Consider implementing more integrated communication platforms to ensure seamless information flow across all teams and locations. This would greatly benefit operational efficiency and employee experience.
