About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic development team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining our high-availability, scalable production systems that support our online strategy games. You will lead key DevOps projects from conception through deployment, guiding technical decision-making and establishing best practices across our engineering teams. Your expertise will ensure our systems remain robust, efficient, and aligned with our growth objectives. Collaborating closely with game development, community, product teams, and sister studios within the Stillfront Group, you will help shape the technological backbone of our gaming infrastructure. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of technologies, influence strategic DevOps initiatives, and contribute to the development of innovative gaming experiences.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in IT maintenance, systems integration, and network architecture
- Proficiency in automation and system administration on Debian and Linux platforms
- Hands-on experience with high-load and high-availability systems and performance optimization
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud, and related management tools like Terraform and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with modern build systems, tech stacks, and toolchains
- Proficiency in Java or other high-level programming languages
- Experience in developing, shipping, and maintaining at least one commercial product or game
- Excellent technical documentation and communication skills in English
- Willingness to learn new technologies and stay updated with industry trends
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute critical DevOps projects from planning to deployment, ensuring alignment with company goals
- Develop and maintain scalable, stable, and high-availability production systems
- Analyze system performance and implement optimizations at OS and application levels
- Prototype, establish, and refine tooling to enhance system performance and developer workflows
- Automate development processes and improve workflows utilizing tools such as Github Actions, Helm, ArgoCD, Ansible, Docker, and Webpack
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including game developers, community managers, and product managers to ensure seamless integration and deployment
- Conduct research, attend conferences, and participate in training to deepen technical expertise and share knowledge with the team
- Maintain documentation of system architecture, configurations, and operational procedures
- Monitor and troubleshoot production systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance
